Digital Diagnostic Wax-ups

The diagnostic wax-up is a useful tool to enhance treatment planning and provide a template for predictable restorations. The diagnostic is one of the first steps you should take when starting an aesthetic case. By beginning with the final in mind, a case that has a clear visual of the final product will go much more smoothly. This helps the lab in making the restoration meet the expectations of the patient.

The digital diagnostic wax-up is much the same as a conventional wax-up on a stone model: the digital wax-up is overlaid onto the digital model. The process creates a 3D representation of the proposed result created over the 3D pre-op model. The digital diagnostic is then 3D printed in one of several resin options available. A digital file is also created to be used for future planning or preoperative reference.
